Circular stick-pin donation badge, 21mm dia consisting of a celluloid-covered coloured insert showing oakleaves surrounded by "Schützt die Famlie - Wir opfern" which can be translated as 'To protect the family, we sacrifice'. The reverse has a stick-pin and the manufacturer's name 'Paulmann & Crone, Lüdenscheid'. Very good condition. read more

France : Commemorative Medal of the 1870–1871 War.

Franco-Prussian War bronze 30mm dia medal complete with original pin-back ribbon. The obverse shows an effigy of the "warrior republic" in the form of a helmeted woman's bust wearing armour with around the circumference the inscription "Republique Francaise". The reverse shows a trophy of arms. As France was heavily defeated in this war, it took until 1911 before this medal was introduced to... read more

Belgium : Military Commemorative Medal of the Reign of King Albert I.

Bronze 32mm dia medal with ring suspender complete with pin-back ribbon.
The medal was awarded to serving members of the Belgian Armed Forces and to veterans of the services who had served honorably between 18 December 1909 and 18 February 1934, the period of Albert's reign. Despite the qualifying service dates, the medal was not instituted until February 1962. read more

USA : Army Commendation Medal named to Rodrigo Ayala.

Bronze hexagonal medal with green & white silk ribbon. The medal is engraved on the reverse with the recipients name 'Rodrigo Ayala' although the naming is difficult to make out.(highlighted with talc for the photos) Very good condition.
I have not researched the man.
This award started life in 1944 as a ribbon and eventually took on its present medallic form in 1960. read more
