First pattern S98/05 bayonet with the early long-eared quillon and no flash-guard. There is no rust at all although the steel has naturally darkened. Excellent smooth clean blade with the makers details 'Weyerberg Kirschbaum & Cie. Solingen' in four lines on the ricasso. The back of the blade includes the date stamp for 1915. Clip of five standard late-war 7.92mm short rounds with laquered-steel cases and copper-covered heads. Each round has two holes drilled into the cartridge-case and all are now inert. The base of each round is stamped with two pairs of numbers.
