Three photos measuring 21.5cms x 16.5cms showing different views of the battleship. The reverses carry various stamps and are dated 1952.
HMS Vanguard was a British fast battleship built during WW2 but commissioned after the war ended. She was the largest and fastest of the Royal Navy's battleships and the only ship of her class. She was the last battleship in history to be built and never saw action..
Placed in reserve in 1955 she was sold for £100,000, towed to HM Naval base at Faslane, Scotland in August 1960 and broken up for scrap. On her final departure from Portsmouth, she briefly ran aground before the tugs pulled her free.
