Royal Marines GvR King's Badge for the Blues Uniform.
Hand-embroidered gold wire 'GvR' monogram within a laurel wreath on navy blue. Unworn. The reverse bears a white printed stores number.
The Royal Marines King's Badge was instituted by King George V in 1918 and is a prestigious award only presented to the absolute all-around best recruit in the senior training squad (known as the King's Squad) at the Commando Training Centre (CTCRM) in Lympstone, Devon. It is a highly respected rare honour that is only awarded if a recruit meets exceptionally exacting standards and is thus not given to every passing-out squad.
