The 5th Dragoon Regiment (5e Régiment de Dragons or 5e RD) is a historic, operational cavalry unit of the French Army with a distinguished history dating back to 1656. It has existed in various forms including as horse-mounted cavalry, "lorried" infantry, and in an armoured role. In 2016 it was re-established as a modern combined-arms cavalry regiment.
