Third Reich : Army (Heer) 2nd Pattern Shooting Cord (1938-1945) - Grade 11.

Silver wire-woven plaited lanyard with gold aluminium plaque attached bearing a Wehrmacht eagle, shield and crossed swords.. The lanyard has gold wire balls and two gold wire acorns attached , all indicating a grade 11 award. The rear of the cord has a silver-grey rayon/silk backing introduced in 1937 to reduce abrasion to the uniform and a field-grey cloth backing to the plaque.
Introduced in 1938 to replace the 1st pattern lanyard,, this cord was similarly awarded to army non-commissioned ranks to recognize top marksmanship proficiency and in this grade is very rare.
