Third Reich : Wehrmacht Fur-backed Pack Model 1939 (Tornister M39) dated 1944.

Back-pack with brown fur cowhide front flap complete with leather shoulder-straps and, apart from one small buckle at the bottom of the inner front flap, all buckles, buttons, etc. are present. Inside is buff canvas with mess-tin pouch, etc. The pack is in generally good condition but has obviously seen considerable service and has a 50mm wear hole which has been period repaired / hemmed in the back panel. It bears a Waffenamt stamp plus the makers code "jhg 44" indicating manufacture in 1944 by Gustav Genschow & Co AG, Lederwarenfabrik in Alstadt-hackenburg. The front fur panel is in exceptionally good condition.
