Imperial : German Imperial Prussian Kavallerie Lion-head Dress-sword.

Excellent short pattern dress sabre with full gilt lion-head hilt with ruby eyes and composite grip but no grip-wire. Overall length in scabbard is 86cms. The front langet has crossed lances, swords and wreath design whilst the reverse langet has an escutcheon. The hilt back-strap is also decorated. The 68cms very clean blade was etched on both sides with floriated designs but these have almost been erased / polished out. There are no visible maker's details (possibly behind the langets ?) .
The black painted scabbard is in excellent condition with no dents at all and with at least 95% black paint finish intact.. The scabbard is stamped "91" near the throat and has a single suspension ring.
Excellent overall condition.
