BRD : Early Post-war West German (upto 1950) Brauschwieg (Brunswick) Land Polizei / Feuerwehr Belt-buckle.
Two-piece aluminium buckle with "Gott mit Uns" centre-piece fixed to the pebbled rectangular buckle with four tabs. The central motif is the white horse commonly used in the lower-Saxony / Hannover / Brunswick region. No makers marks. Very good condition.
Note: there has always been considerable debate about these buckles in reference books. In Thomas Reid & John Nauer's 1979 book "German Belt Buckles 1919-1945" they are referred to as for pre-1936 Reichsheer Landwehr (Reserve Army) units, whilst John Angolia includes them in his 1982 book "Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich" but states that there is also a distinct possibility that they are post-war Polizei / Feuerwehr.
