BRD / Belgium : Beret Badge for the Vogelsang NATO Training Camp Administration Staff.

Large (75mm high) beret badge worn by the staff administering the Vogelsang Military Training Area in West Germany. This area lay in the British control zone in post-war Germany but was placed under Belgian administration from 1950 until its closure in 2005. The badge is very germanic in appearance and consists of a half-laurel / half oakleaf wreath around a vertical sword superimposed by a tank and gilt diving (para-type) eagle.
The reverse has three wing-clip fixings and the makers name 'Drago, Paris'.
The Vogelsang facility had previously been the renowned Nazi Political Leaders School.
Scarce badge in excellent condition with its original packet. I obtained this badge when training at Vogelsang in the '80s.
