Royal Artillery Unit Pennant (King's crown) - 669 Regiment.
Unique regimental pennant for 669 Rgt, RA. It is 1.17 mtrs long complete with rope halyard and toggle. Printed flag-cloth with white numbers individually stitched on, all in first-class condition.
The Royal Artillery did not carry colours, their guns were their battle honours. Battery and regimental pennants were however used to identify individual units.
669 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (Durham) (TA) was formed on 1st January 1947 with its HQ in South Shields, Co.Durham as part of 83 Anti-aircraft Brigade. In 1949 it was re-designated 669 Light Anti-Aircraft/Searchlight Regiment RA (Durham) (TA) .
On 10th March 1955 Anti-aircraft Command was disbanded and 669 was amalgamated with 537 & 670 Regiments to form 439 Regiment; the late 669 Regiment forming R (South Shields) Bty of 439 Regiment .
